Y'all need to understand that we are not and emotional person with regards to books. No, I promise I'm not heartless, I just don't cry easily. Yes, during books my pulse rate accelerates and I'll shame the characters, however i don't actually cry. This really is one of many only books where We've come this near to tears. And thats saying something.
To start with I purchase into the many emotional point about this book, I want to first mention the characters.
Katniss is fantastic. She's incredibly strong and fierce. Now, that's the best style of heroine we be aware that sometimes these learn to blend together but something I like about her is the fact although she could be these things like numerous other heroines available, she's not really lovable and witty similar to others. She's standoffish as well as a loner and it takes a period of time for an individual to obtain by way of her. She's mature beyond her years because she gets for being. She had become the sole supporter of her family at a real early age and yes it hardened her. She's a survivor. But sometimes this hard exterior became her downfall because she couldn't always see what's at the front of her: the fact people worry about her. However, although its challenging past her hardened exterior, when you do, she is a tremendously kind and admirable person. This is especially shown through her actions for the reaping. She cared much for her family she was ready to risk her lifetime, knowing that her chances for returning were slim, to keep her sister safe. If thats not merit respect, then I have no idea of what exactly is.
Peeta can be another great character. He's essentially the complete the complete opposite of Katniss. He's personable, caring, and charming. He truly really cares about Katniss regardless of whether she can't see it herself. Even when you don't get to find out to much about him because from Katniss' perspective, it is possible to still notice that they have admirable qualities too. Normally I enjoy the alpha male and the bad-boy (I guess its kinda my weakness) however do also fall for the sweet, respectful guys and i also fell head-over-heels for his heart.
For secondary characters? Amazing. Each was unique in their own individual way. Effie, sweetly oblivious Effie. Haymitch, who may drink a tad to much, but incorporates a heart under that surly exterior. Cinna, who truly loves Katniss even though he hardly knows her. Even other tributes each had their very own personalities that made them unique (Don't even get me moving on Rue!).
This book was just so incredibly emotional. 24 kids enter an arena in support of 1 arrives. I honestly can't even imagine when i was in their situation. I understand which i would do whatever it latched onto survive, but how would that change me? Each tribute was only trying to survive. They didn't wish to be there (well, except several), but were required to be. When your facing your immediate death, how would you act? Survival changes people. These different reactions to their situations were shown remarkably well through the various tributes. Collins' does a wonderful jobs of showing how different people would fare in this situation. While the many bloodshed in the arena itself is disturbing, probably the most annoying thing for me was the fact that the individuals on the Capitol enjoyed it. Children were dying and them it was just entertainment. We were holding completely oblivious!! It absolutely was all just a game directly to them. Provided that they were entertained, these folks were happy. That it was sick. Completely and utterly sick.
And tell the truth, I felt awful for the other tributes, even while they tried to kill Katniss and Peeta. How would you not? We were holding thrown to a situation some of them weren't prepared for and simply hoping to get home. But they were her enemies, I felt pity and guilt right in addition to Katniss. She, too, knows that we were holding only doing whatever they had to function like she was.
The Hunger Games might be a dark book about death and destruction, but within its dark exterior is a beautiful story filled with survival, hope and fighting for which you cherish.
