With automakers focusing on integrating as numerous properties as probable in the center console area, the quantity of 6 passenger vehicles being manufactured has declined over the years. The front bench seating required to accommodate 3 people has been exchanged for separate front seats with the gear shift and parking brake placed in-between.

But all is not lost. Though not as common as they once used to be, there are still a couple of full sized vehicles on the market with bench seating for that extra passenger. The Lincoln Town Car is, perhaps, the almost all well recognized of the bunch. A long favourite of older drivers, the town Car has a movable center console which can be flipped up to present more room.

One of Ford's flagship cars, the Crown Victoria, also gives seating for six visitors. Since its inception in 1955, the Crown Victoria has been an American favourite. Its rugged construction and durability has resulted in it to become the number 1 option for police and taxi fleets across the country.

As one of the last traditional full-size vehicles, the Mercury Grand Marquis still has the 2 armrests in the middle which can be adjusted to make place for a 6 passenger SUV. It even has a foot rest where they can site their feet to make sure that they are not disturbing the convenience of the driver or another passenger.

And in terms of deciding exactly who gets to sit in that middle front seat, drawing straws has consistently proved to be an successful decision making method for centuries.
